Tam Nong Vietnam’s organic purple rice flour is opening up new opportunities in the Australian market, supported by Loc Troi Group and partners across the agricultural value chain.
On the afternoon of October 23, Tam Nong Vietnam Cooperative, in collaboration with its partners, hosted a business networking session with Australian distributors at WTC EXPO in Binh Duong Ward, Ho Chi Minh City. Held as part of the Ho Chi Minh City Export 2026 trade fair, the event aimed to strengthen international partnerships and expand opportunities for Vietnamese agricultural products to enter Australia’s distribution networks.
The session focused on developing the Australian market for organic-certified purple rice flour produced by Tam Nong Vietnam Cooperative. As part of this collaboration, Loc Troi Group is supporting efforts to combine high-quality agricultural raw materials with advanced processing technologies, enhance the value of Vietnamese rice, and work with partners to develop products tailored to Australian market demand.

The initiative highlights the importance of connecting raw material production, manufacturing, processing, and distribution to create sustainable market opportunities. Direct engagement with Australian distributors enables the cooperative to gain a clearer understanding of market requirements, refine product quality, and shape its future product development strategy.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Chairwoman of Tam Nong Vietnam Cooperative, emphasised that for Vietnamese agricultural products to succeed in international markets, quality must be established at the source. The cooperative is gradually developing and connecting production areas, with a strong focus on cultivation standards, raw material quality control, and product traceability.
For familiar agricultural products such as rice, chillies, vegetables, and other locally grown produce, the cooperative is prioritising value-added processing to enhance product value and improve access to international markets. Its organic-certified purple rice flour represents one of these strategic directions, bringing together quality raw materials, processing technology, and evolving consumer needs.
According to Ms. Van Anh, producing a high-quality product does not automatically guarantee market access. Producers must understand what customers want while working with partners who possess local market expertise to refine their products and establish effective distribution channels.
“Our goal is not simply to sell a single shipment. We want to build a sustainable market,” Ms. Van Anh emphasised.
From a distributor’s perspective, Mr. Pham Van Tuan, Director of VN Fresh Food Australia, noted that the Australian market offers significant opportunities but also comes with high expectations. Consumers consider taste and price, while increasingly seeking transparency about where products come from, how they are produced, whether they are safe, and what value they provide.

According to Mr. Tuan, Vietnam possesses significant strengths in rice, fruits and vegetables, spices, processed foods, and products that reflect the country’s distinctive culinary heritage and identity. However, successfully entering the Australian market requires products to meet relevant standards, maintain consistent quality, ensure clear traceability, and align with consumer preferences.
VN Fresh Food aims to work closely with Vietnamese producers to select suitable products, meet market standards, develop distribution networks, and gradually build strong brand recognition in Australia.
Mr. Tuan expressed confidence in Tam Nong Vietnam’s development approach, which integrates raw material production, processing, product development, and market expansion through modern manufacturing technologies. He considers this a solid foundation for establishing a long-term partnership between the two organisations.
“Having a Vietnamese product on supermarket shelves in Australia is already an achievement. But our ambitions go far beyond that,” Mr. Tuan shared.
The company’s broader ambition is for Australian consumers to choose Vietnamese products because they trust their quality and the brands behind them, and to continue purchasing those products over time.
Building this level of trust requires close collaboration between Vietnamese producers and Australian distributors, from product selection and refinement to long-term market development.
Mr. Le Minh Trung, Director of the Centre for Technical Support and Sustainable Development, identified Australia as an important market with considerable untapped potential for Vietnamese products. He noted that opportunities are particularly promising for high-quality products developed through careful seed selection, standardised cultivation practices, and the application of advanced processing technologies.
According to Mr. Trung, businesses and cooperatives should incorporate export planning into their production strategies from the outset. Connecting with distributors and post-harvest technology specialists can help producers develop products suited to specific markets and strengthen their ability to meet customer requirements.

During the event, participating organisations announced areas of cooperation covering research, the application of advanced technologies in value-added processing, production standardisation, market development, and the distribution of purple rice flour in Australia.
The partnership also involves transportation and logistics providers, helping to maintain agricultural product quality throughout the journey from Vietnam to Australian consumers.
Loc Troi Group’s involvement forms part of a broader collaboration focused on agricultural raw material production, technological innovation, and advanced processing, with the aim of increasing the value of Vietnamese rice and developing nutritious food products.
Together with processing and logistics partners and VN Fresh Food Australia, Tam Nong Vietnam Cooperative is working to further develop its organic purple rice flour, strengthen distribution networks, and establish sustainable, long-term market opportunities in Australia.
